How to submit a commission?

The best way to contact me is through email which you can submit through the form on the Contact tab.

I keep three slots open for commissions, if all three slots are full I will not be available for commission work until a slot is free.

If you are emailing for a commission please include your name, subject matter, size, budget, time restraints, color preferences, and any additional information you feel that I need to know in order to provide you with the perfect piece. Feel free to send me clear reference photos if the subject matter is specific.

Will you paint anything?

I will not paint anything that goes against my moral beliefs or is outright vulgar.

What supplies do you use?

Paint

Oil - I currently use Gamblin Artists’ oil colors. I love it for the vibrancy and depth each color can provide. I will also use Winsor and Newton oil paints to replace some colors in my palette to achieve a wider range of colors. I really enjoy the depth I can achieve with oils as well as the consistency of these paints.

Acrylics - I personally like and use Liquitex Acrylic Heavy Body paints or Golden. I like that I am able to achieve texture easily with these paints as well as the coverage/color payoff they provide.

Gouache - I have been enjoying Liquitex Professional Acrylic Gouache. This is the brand I started exploring gouache with and I recommend it since you are able to use it straight from the tube. You are also able to dilute it and create nice washes. I plan on exploring more with gouache and am particularly interested in the gouache jelly cups by HIMI. I am curious to see how well that paint hold up and the vibrancy many other artist’s praise it for.

Brushes

I use a variety of brushes and too many to be able to name specific brands. Most of my brushes are synthetic and are cleaned with odorless mineral spirits and Pink Soap after oil painting and condition with the Master’s Touch artist soap.

Varnish

I normally seal all of my pieces unless otherwise stated. This ensures the durability of my paintings, helps prevent yellowing, and saturates my work.

Oil Paintings - To seal my oil pieces I go through the process of “oiling out” my work to revive any dull spots. Then I use Gamvar gloss, satin, or matte varnish depending on the painting and what finish I would like to achieve. I am a fan of these varnishes because of its quality and that it can simply be removed easily with Gamsol.

Acrylic Paintings - To varnish my acrylic pieces I like to use Liquitex Professional varnishes. I am able to have the option of using a gloss, satin, or matte finish on my acrylic pieces using this brand of varnish. I am personally a fan of this brand because of its low odor and its durability.

Gouache - For gouache I will use a spray varnish. I do not personally like to use a gloss or satin finish on gouache because I enjoy the matte finish the paint provides for me.

Painting Surfaces

Oil Paintings - I will use either canvas or panel to create my oil paintings. Canvas gives a nice texture while panel on the other hand will provide a smooth surface and a polished finish.

Acrylic Paintings - Similar to my oil paintings I will use either canvas or panel. I do tend to normally use canvas more with my acrylic pieces because I do like the texture of the acrylic paint over the texture of the canvas.

Gouache - For gouache I will use a heavy weighted paper normally. The brand Canson has a great paper made for Plein-Air painting that is able to withstand the gouache paints.

I am also starting to recycle my own paper. These pieces made with recycled paper should be kept out of the sun and noted that they are not made entirely out of archival materials.

Silly questions.

Will you complete art in exchange for exposure/for free?

NO. This is my job and should be respected as such. I work for pay and aim to grow organically. This is sadly a high request in this industry and I will not respond to these types of requests.

Can you paint this piece of already existing art?

NO. If you are interested in another artist’s work you need to support them with your patronage. I only paint original work created by myself and will not paint existing art.
